GOV.LK System Redesign
A unified design system concept for all Sri Lankan government websites
Project overview
This project aimed to create a comprehensive design system and reusable component library for the entire Sri Lankan government web ecosystem. By standardizing templates and UI components across ministries and departments, the goal was to deliver a cohesive, accessible, and responsive user experience. The redesign focused on improving usability, security compliance, and visual consistency, helping government websites better serve diverse user groups while simplifying development and maintenance.
My contribution
I conducted a thorough analysis of the existing government websites to identify usability and consistency issues. Benchmarking against successful government portals from other countries informed best practices in accessibility, security, and user experience. I defined key user groups and mapped user flows to optimize navigation and task completion. I developed a scalable design system that includes standardized components, templates, and style guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency across all sites. Additionally, I designed responsive, user-friendly interfaces that comply with government security standards. I also contributed to frontend development using Lovable.
